The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner
Firstly, at 7:30am the Australian Information Commissioner, Timothy Pilgrim, will be the guest speaker at a business breakfast being hosted by Gilbert & Tobin, Perth. The session will also hear from G&T’s Data Services partner, Peter Leonard, and will explore new sources of value from harnessing data and discuss how privacy compliance can be built in to processes and products, whether resources, agriculture, services or technology. For further details or to register please email sabrown@gtlaw.com.au. Then at 11am, the OAIC will hold the first meeting of its new Privacy Professionals Network at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Perth. This hour-long meeting will include updates from the OAIC on current privacy issues such as big data, de-identification, data breach notification, privacy management planning, privacy impact assessments — as well as your chance to talk directly to senior OAIC staff about your questions or concerns over a light lunch.
