Leading Information Governance

Information Governance is an ever more critical capability for organizations – how the risks of information collected and stored are managed and how information can be leveraged to create and deliver value. Developing this capability requires leadership. In this session, we will answer:

  • How is the world of information governance changing?
  • What capabilities do organizations require to govern their information effectively?
  • What skills and attributes do professionals responsible for information and IT systems require to drive governance initiatives?

David Fricker is Director-General at the National Archives of Australia. He has held senior technology-related roles in the public and private sector with organizations such as CSC and ASIO. As Director-General of the National Archives of Australia, David’s strategic focus has been on the whole-of-government transition to ‘digital continuity’ in records and information management. David is currently the President of the International Council on Archives, and a Vice Chair of the UNESCO Memory of the World International Advisory Committee.

Susan Bennett is the Principal of Sibenco Legal & Advisory and Co-founder & Director of Information Governance ANZ. She is a leader in Information Governance and advises on strategic risk management to achieve organisational objectives. Susan is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and Chair of APAC Working Group 6 – International Electronic Information Management of the US based think-tank Sedona Conference®, and a member of Working Group 11 – Data Security and Privacy Liability.

Christopher Colwell is a Fellow, Life Member and former director of Records and Information Management Professionals Australasia. For the last 20 years he has implemented records and information management programs in Australian State and Commonwealth public sector agencies. Chris teaches in the Masters of Digital Information Management at UTS and is completing his PhD.
